NOTES

The first challenge with the Book of Joel is trying to date it. The challenge comes through the fact that the prophet has very willtle to say about himself. Many of the prophets neame the kings under which they were serving, but Joel does not.

Joel prophesised about desruction that could apply to Babylonian invasion or the destruction of the temple in 70 AD, or other traumatic times for Israel. He also prophesied about the Day of the Lord (another name for the Second Coming of Christ), and therefore some of his prophecies remain futuristic.
